Pieces of Eight featuring the Lakeside Brass is a band well known to the Cleveland
area. The group has a performing style that is high energy and interactive. A
supercharged combination of talent, showmanship, professionalism and
experience, Pieces of Eight is the premier party band in Ohio that strikes a chord
with just about everyone. From the highest energy classic rock to the soul of
rhythm & blues, their repertoire creates a perfect atmosphere for a party. If your
crowd likes to dance, that’s what they do best. If your audience likes to be
entertained, there is plenty for them to see and hear.

Pieces of Eight first performed at Wickliffe High School in 1979 as a Blues Brothers
tribute band. The next year, The band made their public debut at the Flipside, a
small bar located in Cleveland Heights. Several members were still in high school at
the time. 2009 marked the 30 year anniversary of Pieces of Eight performing their
brand of high energy music in Northeast Ohio. The band celebrated this milestone
with a party held in February 2009 that was attended by more than 700 dedicated
fans. It also served as a fundraising event for the Hemophilia Foundation in
memory of Rob Vincent, one of the band’s founding members and lead guitarist
who passed away in 1996 due to complications of hemophilia. The band donated
over $10,000.00 to the Hemophilia Foundation in his honor to help fund medical
research for this disease.

For more than three decades, Pieces of Eight has performed at a majority of
Cleveland's favorite night clubs, for students on spring break in Daytona Beach,
Florida, at many community sponsored events, festivals, concerts, and for
thousands of high school and college students at many different functions. The
band performed a record 24 consecutive summers at the Boathouse in the resort
town of Put-In-Bay, Ohio.

The group brings years of experience to the stage. The band's current line-up
includes guitarists Kurt Kendig and Ken Cali, keyboardist Mike Butzback, drummer
Joe Blatnik, bassist Joe Lazar, and horn players Dan Hannan on trombone, Al
Widmer on trumpet, and Mike Winfield on multiple saxophones. All members sing
throughout a performance providing either lead vocals or backing harmonies.

Over 30 years, the band has performed more than 280 different songs. The
unusual mix of musical talent and instrumentation affords the group the capability
of reproducing a wide variety of material. The musical focus of the band is a mixture
of very recognizable classic rock and popular rhythm and blues. Each performance
is unique and the band arranges the set list to fit the performance and the
audience.
